Microbiological profile and multidrug resistant bacteria in pneumonia

چکیده
Background Currently accepted classifications of pneumonia include community acquired pneumonia (CAP), healthcareassociated pneumonia (HCAP), hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP), and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). Previous studies have shown a high rate of patients with HCAP or HAP caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria (MDR). Our aim was to determine the differences in etiology and antibiotic-resistant bacteria between CAP, HCAP and HAP groups.

Antibacterial activity of nickel and nickel hydroxide nanoparticles against multidrug resistance K. pneumonia and E. coli isolated urinary tract
Objective(s): Antibacterial materials are so significant in the textile industry, water disinfection, medicine, and food packaging. Unfortunately, organic compounds for sterilization show toxicity to the human body; therefore, the interest in inorganic disinfectants such as metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) is increasing. Materials and Methods: Nickel and nickel hydroxide nanoparticles (NiNPs ...
متن کاملMultidrug Resistance in Infants and Children
Bacterial infections may cause disease and death. Infants and children are often subject to bacterial infections. Antimicrobials kill bacteria protecting the infected patients andreducing the risk of morbidity and mortality caused by bacteria. The antibiotics may lose their antibacterial activity when they become resistant to a bacteria. The resistance to different antibiotics in a bacteria is ...
متن کاملAerosolized colistin for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia due to multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria in patients without cystic fibrosis
The management challenges of patients with nosocomial pneumonia are great because of resistance among the responsible pathogens. In this issue of Critical Care, Argyris Michalopoulos and colleagues describe the use of inhaled colistin in the treatment of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative nosocomial pneumonia in a small group of patients. Although seven of eight patients who received nebulized c...
متن کاملColonization of multidrug resistant pathogens in a hybrid pediatric cardiac surgery center
INTRODUCTION The incidence of multidrug resistant microorganisms worldwide is increasing. The aim of the study was to present institutional experience with the multidrug resistant microorganism colonization patterns observed in children with congenital heart diseases hospitalized in a hybrid pediatric cardiac surgery center. MATERIAL AND METHODS Microbiological samples were routinely collecte...
متن کاملLinezolid (PNU-100766) versus vancomycin in the treatment of hospitalized patients with nosocomial pneumonia: a randomized, double-blind, multicenter study.
Linezolid, the first oxazolidinone, is active against gram-positive bacteria, including multidrug-resistant strains. This multinational, randomized, double-blind, controlled trial compared the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of linezolid with vancomycin in the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia. A total of 203 patients received intravenous linezolid, 600 mg twice daily, plus aztreonam, and 19...
